The Brief: A global exporter ready for a brand to match

Liffey Meats is a fifth-generation, family-owned Irish beef processor and one of the country’s largest beef exporters — but its brand hadn’t yet caught up with its scale, standards or ambitions. The brief was to reconcile a proud heritage with a modern, confident presence that could stand up on the global stage, both as a brand and a digital platform.

The Challeng: The reputation was global, the brand wasn't

A business of Liffey Meats’ size and standards was being represented by an identity and website that undersold both,  outdated, hard to navigate, and unable to tell the provenance, quality and sustainability story that global buyers weigh before they commit.

The Strategy: Turn heritage into a competitive edge.

CDG’s strategic starting point was the insight that Liffey Meats’ heritage – fifth-generation, family-owned, deeply rooted in Irish farming – is not a nostalgic detail. It is a competitive advantage, particularly in export markets where provenance, traceability, and trust are purchase drivers. The strategy was to modernise the brand without erasing what made it authentic, to sharpen the expression while keeping the family-run Irish story intact and legible to international buyers.

The positioning we defined centred on three things that global buyers in premium beef markets care most about: provenance (where it comes from and who is behind it), quality standards (grass-fed, traceable, consistent), and sustainability (a commitment that European retail channels now demand as a baseline). Every element of the brand and digital platform was built to carry that story clearly and credibly.

The work: A brand and platform built for the buyers who matter.

CDG audited the full brand and every digital touchpoint, then delivered a comprehensive brand refresh: a modernised logo, refined typography, a nature-inspired colour palette that speaks to Irish provenance without relying on cliché. The new website was built to do commercial work, rich imagery, intuitive navigation, and messaging around quality, sustainability, and heritage structured specifically for the international buyers and retail partners Liffey Meats targets.

Every design decision was evaluated against a single commercial test: does this make Liffey Meats more credible to the buyers it needs to win?

Market Entry: The Netherlands Translating Irish beef for Dutch buyers.

Our Approach

We began with an audit of the existing brand assets and digital touchpoints, identifying opportunities to modernise the visual identity while preserving the authenticity of the Liffey Meats story. A refreshed logo, streamlined typography, and a nature-inspired colour palette created a more distinctive and contemporary expression.

For the website, we designed a fully responsive, UX-driven platform with rich imagery, intuitive navigation, and clear messaging around quality, sustainability, and heritage. The new digital presence showcases Liffey Meats’ global reach, while still celebrating their roots as a family-run Irish business.

The Outcome: Export-ready. Buyer-credible. Built for European growth.

Liffey Meats now presents to international buyers, retail partners, and foodservice channels with a brand and platform that reflect the actual quality and ambition of the business. The refreshed identity is modern, confident, and export-ready, seamless across devices, credible in European retail contexts, and capable of carrying the provenance story that differentiates premium Irish beef in competitive global markets.

The Dutch market entry opened new buyer relationships and established Liffey Meats with a coherent, market-appropriate presence in Europe. For a family-owned business expanding internationally, the ability to enter a new market with a brand that reads as trusted, premium, and deeply rooted , rather than unfamiliar, is a commercial asset that compounds with every new territory. CDG built that asset. Liffey Meats is using it to grow.
